The MOS NGM Aviation Software Tool

After reading Jane Garvey's article in IFR Magazine about textual 60 hour forecasts (Pump up Your TAF, Volume 21:3 pages 20-21), I was moved to create a simple tool that would help me make extended weather decisions. After reading up on the the MOS output message known as NGM from the National Weather Service, I built a small and humble program that helps me understand the weather up to 60 hours from a recent forecast. To download MosNGMWeather, click here.

This program is offered free of charge. Because it is free of charge, I am currently offering little support, but you may E-mail comments to me by clicking here I wish to thank many of you who have made suggestions and found bugs in the software. If you would like to review the revision history, click here.

UniSys supplied me with several graphic images used in the software. NgmMosWeather downloads their graphical rendition of the NGM data and displays it on the graphical tab in the software. Please thank them by using their products or e-mailing their meteorologists. You can click here to connect to their site.

This program should work on Windows 98 and later. Before you run the program, you must make sure you are connected to the Internet (It reads forecast information from the NWS and UniSys servers). This software tool only supplies weather for the continental United States. Please read the license information carefully. I make no warrantees on the reliability of the information supplied by the software. Use multiple sources of weather information before you fly. This software does not constitute a pilot briefing.

I have no affiliation with UniSys or IFR Magazine.
